We’re big fans of Harry Potter both the books and the movies, but primarily the books. So we always prick up our ears when new news appears…
PA are reporting that author JK Rowling wants to rework two of her Potter books because ‘she reckons that she didn’t have time to finish them as she would have liked’. Basically she wants to do a director’s cut of the books: “There were a couple of the Potters and I definitely knew that they needed another year,” she told the BBC.
“I had to write on the run and there were times when it was really tough. And I read them, and I think ‘Oh God, maybe I’ll go back and do a director’s cut’, I don’t know.
“But you know what, I’m proud I was writing under the conditions under which I was writing, no-one will ever know how tough it was at times.”
While we here at FTN are all about supporting an artist’s true vision, we’re not sure if this is necessary. The cynic in us – yes, hard to believe, but we do have a cynic hidden deep within – hopes this isn’t just a money-making project. But until Rowling says exactly which books she’s thinking about, we’ll keep our minds open…
Her first adult novel The Casual Vacancy in in shops now.
