Are scenes being cut from The Walking Dead premiere?

July 16th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher 2 Comments

There’s a rumor floating around that the Season 5 premiere of The Walking Dead might have finally pushed the envelope too far and has been sent to the cutting board for being too violent. During an interview Steven Yeun/Glenn divulged that it went so far, he wasn’t even sure what they were doing was legal:

“I remember a couple of scenes I would look over at what was going on in the scene and I would be like, ‘What the eff? What are we doing? How is this legal? It’s grounded and real, too; it’s not like torture or gore for no reason. It’s literally, that is what would happen and we are trying to show it. It would not work on network television, let me tell you that.”

He’s not the only one worried about the premiere. Lauren Cohan/Maggie recently said “some of the scenes were so disturbing” she wasn’t sure they’d make it to TV.

None of this is new to the show however. There have been numerous ultra-violent scenes on the show that leave us wondering how they get away with it on cable TV from the series premiere of Rick shooting the small child-turned-walker all the way to the season 4 finale of Rick straight up gutting a man in front of his son.

What do you guys think? Is there a chance the show is finally taking it too far? Let me know in the comments below!
