• A brand new series by bestselling and Hugo award winning novelist CHINA MIEVILLE!• What would happen if you discovered the H Dial, an unbelievably powerful artifact that turned you into a super hero?• And what if you found out that the world is threatened by this very device that’s become your uncontrollable obsession?• These are just the first questions asked in this thrilling and inventive storyline that introduces the strangest super heroes and super villains in the DCU while exploring the boundaries of reality!

Before Ben 10, and his watch that granted him the ability to turn into a multitude of different alien superheroes, there was Dial H for Hero, an original series which debuted in House of Mystery #156 (January 1966).  Resembling an old telephone dial, this device was hand-held and covered in unknown symbols and each time the owner dialled the letters H-E-R-O, he or she turned into a different super-powered being – with automatic knowledge of the super-name and abilities; dialing O-R-E-H made them revert to his normal form.

This was such a popular concpet – allowing the creators to have an underlying plot running throughout the issues while still having fun with new, strange and exciting characters – that it was brought back in the 1980s and the character made appearances through that decade, inhto the 1990s and even had its own series again in 2003 (lasting 22 issues).

On January 12, 2012, DC announced that author China Miéville would be writing a reboot of the series as part of The New 52.

The potential in Miéville’s series is amazing as you have an immensely talented writer – who is popular outside of the comic medium – with a penchant for strange and wonderful stories.  Which is exactly what Dial H for Hero should be.

Mark my words – THIS is a  comic to watch as it’s going to be huge!

Since getting married to the wonderful and patient woman of his dreams, and becoming a father (of two young boys), he has fallen into the category of 'lapsed nerd' as he is a former RPer, Live Role-Player, and comic book junkie. Science fiction and fantasy books are the staple of his shelves - both in terms of books and movies ... however, he's never seen Star Wars (any of them) but please don't hold that against him! He is currently trying to find a medical cure for the thing called sleep, as it is interferring with the thing he calls life. If you want to know more about him go to
