It’s the end of an era as Life in Hell comes to an end…

It’s a sad day as the comic strip that came before The Simpsons and Futurama comes to an end…

Yes, we all know Matt Groening as the guy who created two of the greatest cartoons series of all-time, but he was also the man behind Life In Hell, a phenomenally  popular comic stip that ran for over 30 years wnd had almost 2,000 strips finished last Friday, marking the true end to a comic strip era (the panels above are from the final installment).
comicbookresources reports that Groening said: “I love the characters, I love doing it, but it was just time.
“I’ve had great fun, in a Sisyphean kind of way, but the time has come to let Binky and Sheba and Bongo and Akbar and Jeff take some time off.”
Life in Hell once appeared in 379 newspapers, but at it’s end the numbers were just 38, with Groening being paid just $18 a week by each outlet.
Groenig’s strip was at the head of a comic strip revolution and will be sadly missed…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
