Mark Waid aims to Thrill us.

April 14th, 2012 by Jay Comments

Announced today at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Waid’s new website launches May 1 as a place where he, his partner John Rogers (co-creator of the TV series Leverage) and other creators will debut comic series for the digital space.

Waid’s goal in the long run: to create a collective of new creators and industry veterans who want to aggregate their content and use the digital medium in new and different ways.

“I don’t yet comprehend the size of the tiger whose tail I just grabbed,” Waid says with a laugh. “It’s very liberating and it has me energized in a way I haven’t been energized for probably 10 years.”

The first weekly series Waid is rolling out with the Thrillbent launch is Insufferable, a dark and humorous turn on superhero dynamics illustrated by Irredeemable artist Peter Krause and colorist Nolan Woodard.

“The project itself is going to be amazing but this entire endeavor goes beyond just the entertainment value. Mark and his fellow trailblazers are sharing everything we learn from successes to mistakes online. He’s re-purposed his website as an educational tool for the world to learn right alongside us. That is what I call giving back and then some!” Woodard said on his blog. “Since the beginning I’ve been excited to make this announcement to the world. Waid and Krause are wonderful collaborators and make me, a colorist, feel like I matter, really matter, in a world where colorists often don’t even get credit let alone recognition.”

Jay says that he is a writer, martial artist, sketcher, and dreamer but mostly just a husband and father. Since getting married to the wonderful and patient woman of his dreams, and becoming a father (of two young boys), he has fallen into the category of 'lapsed nerd' as he is a former RPer, Live Role-Player, and comic book junkie. Science fiction and fantasy books are the staple of his shelves - both in terms of books and movies ... however, he's never seen Star Wars (any of them) but please don't hold that against him! He is currently trying to find a medical cure for the thing called sleep, as it is interferring with the thing he calls life. If you want to know more about him go to
