Batman has suffered A Death In The Family. Again.
Yes, DC comics have have subjected Batman to another devastating loss when as Robin has been killed off battling a cloned assassin in thelatest installment of Batman Incorporated which is released yesterday. Writer Grant Morrison has been quoted as saying that “He does his job- he dies an absolute hero”.
But the twist this time is the current incarnation of Robin is, in fact, Bruce Wayne’s 10-year-old son, Damian.
Although he is not the first Robin to be killed off – Jason Todd was killed by the Joker in the story A Death In The Family that ran in Batman #426-429, published in 1988-89 – he is the first to go at the height of his popularity. And the fact that a 10-year-old son boy has been killed is a brave and shocking move.
And this event will be felt throughout the Batman universe rather than a stunt. Morrison has a plan and we can’t wait to see how this unfolds….
