Stan ‘The Iron Man’ Lee

The 89-year-old comics legend has explained the “very serious circumstance” that saw him cancel a string of recent appearances.

“Attention, Troops!” he wrote on the POW! Entertainment blog. “This is a dispatch sent from your beloved Generalissimo, directly from the centre of Hollywood’s combat zone!

“Now hear this. Your leader hath not deserted thee! In an effort to be more like my fellow Avenger, Tony Stark, I have had an electronic pace-maker placed near my heart to insure that I’ll be able to lead thee for another 90 years.

“But fear thee not, my valiant warriors. I am in constant touch with our commanders in the field and victory shall soon be ours. Now I must end this dispatch and join my troops, for an army without a leader is like a day without a cameo! Excelsior!”

Concerns for Lee’s health were raised over the recent cancellations.

Jay says that he is a writer, martial artist, sketcher, and dreamer but mostly just a husband and father. Since getting married to the wonderful and patient woman of his dreams, and becoming a father (of two young boys), he has fallen into the category of 'lapsed nerd' as he is a former RPer, Live Role-Player, and comic book junkie. Science fiction and fantasy books are the staple of his shelves - both in terms of books and movies ... however, he's never seen Star Wars (any of them) but please don't hold that against him! He is currently trying to find a medical cure for the thing called sleep, as it is interferring with the thing he calls life. If you want to know more about him go to
