Yesterday I got the chance to go to Capcom UK HQ to play on the upcoming multiplayer modes for Resident Evil 6. Predator, Survivors and Onslaught will be available exclusively first to Xbox Live on Dec 18th and will cost 320 Microsoft points each (or as a bundle for all three for 720 Microsoft points). The press release details the new multiplayer modes as follows:
- Predator is a game mode supporting from two to six players. One player takes on the role of the Ustanak and then hunts down the other players in the game. The other players need to work together to stop the B.O.W. or at least survive until time runs out.
- Survivors is a team-based versus mode supporting two to six players where when a player dies, they respawn on the other team. The last man or team standing wins.
- Onslaught is the third new game mode coming to Resident Evil 6 and pits two players against each other in a competition to see who can clear waves of oncoming enemies the fastest. Chaining together combos will send additional enemies over to your opponent, thus aiding your own victory.
I battled against and with three Capcom UK staff members and two other reporters. From the few hours I had across all three game modes, my initial impressions were great. Onslaught quickly turns in to a repetitive battle of running around in circles, trying to kill as many enemies as possible in order to send more enemies your opponents’ way. But six player Survivor and Predator have a huge amount of scope for epic multiplayer fun. I will post a full review for all three new game modes on their release on Dec 18th, but in the meantime check out the review for Resident Evil 6 here at FTN.
Capcom are releasing a free update to RE6 on December 17th that will allow players to adjust the camera settings, enhance Ada Wong’s campaign with a new player-controlled co-op partner, and adds a new “No Hope” difficulty setting.
Capcom provided me with some prizes to give away to celebrate the upcoming release of the new Resident Evil Multiplayer Modes. There are two ways to enter the competition. Either like the FTN page on Facebook and share this articles link or follow FTN on Twitter and retweet the tweet below.
Out of all the shares and RTs, we will pick five winners at random. Four will receive a Resident Evil 6 watch and one lucky winner will receive a Resident Evil 6 hoodie. You can share and RT, and if you do, it will count as two different entries giving you two chances to win.
Entry is open to UK and Ireland residents only. Entries from writers and contributors to FTN, or anyone related to them will not be valid, but may still share and RT in order to promote the competition. The competition closes on Friday 14th December 2012 at 23:59 and the winner will be announced on Sunday 16 December 2012. Entrants will only be able to win one prize each, regardless of the amount of entries. The Resident Evil 6 hoodie is sized at medium.
