The massive multiplayer online game under development by 38 Studios, codenamed Project Copernicus, is scheduled to arrive in June 2013.
Gamespot UK said the news was confirmed by Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee, who revealed the date during a press conference attended by Joystiq discussing the future of embattled Providence-based 38 Studios.
The video release is the latest in a string of events last week that saw 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling meeting with the state of Rhode Island, which had backed a loan for the studio, after his company missed a payment to the state’s development corporation.
The events came to a head with the governor of Rhode Island holding a press conference to say that the studio had made good on the annual payment due the state.
Further details on the game, meanwhile, have not been revealed, as Chafee simply stated: “What I understand is Copernicus is June ’13.”
