Auto Assembly – Transformers Con: 3rd – 5th August, Birmingham

June 26th, 2012 by Big Phil Comments

Greetings once again my fellow Nerds and Nerdettes.

We at FTN HQ scour the galaxy (well, Earth anyway) to bring you the latest in convention news and we are very excited about the upcoming Auto Assembly convention. This is being held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel and is certainly THE place to be if you are a hardcore or even a casual fan of anything to do with Transformers.

This event has been running since 2000 and this year’s event is set to be bigger than ever! With four main areas totally devoted to Transformers, the attendee will have no shortage of favourites to visit.

There is an area that is described as “The Alternate Room” (fans of the comic series will have an idea what this might mean) and will also be split into a gaming area. There is also a library area which will play host to The Game Zone, some fantastic displays (our lips are sealed as to what they are) and also some dealers as we know fans love to purchase that all elusive piece for their collection.

There will be an area dedicated to guest talks, an auction and guest signings and Q&As. There will even be a Theatre for a LIVE SCRIPT READING by guest actors!

And what a guest line-up they have! Confirmed acting guests include Michael Bell (voice talent of Sideswipe, Swoop, Prowl and numerous other G1 characters), Townsend Coleman (voice talent of Sentinal Prime and Tracks in Transformers: Animated) and Paul Eiding (voice talent of Perceptor from G1).

Confirmed guests from the Transformers comic world include Simon Furman (Comic writer, editor, TV animation writer), THE Andrew Wildman, James Roberts (writer of Eugenesis), and Stephen Baskerville (Inker) to name but a few; this guest list alone will have fans drooling over their favourite piece of work for a personal signing.

As if these activities were not enough, there will also be a cosplay parade, artist sketches and workshops (which include a How To Draw workshop and a How to Colour Workshop), not to mention a rare toy display and a swap meet and fan sales table for those collectors who simply want to admire and trade with each other.

With only 8 weeks to go until the Autobots roll out this event is shaping up to be the Transformers event this summer and, as always, FTN will be bringing you all the news, reviews, interviews and titbits to keep you well informed.

If you would like to attend and find out more information about this amazing event, you can purchase tickets here

Remember you Nerd it here first and stay tuned for more updates and interviews over the next few weeks… now, Roll Out!

I arrived on Earth in 1977 and have virtually devoted my entire existence to cult films, television programmes and cartoons. I am a very big fan of Star Wars and Star Trek; I may struggle with foreign languages but I can order live Gagh in Klingon! I’m the Nerd that knows the trivia but I’m hopeless at sport!
