With everyone going into meltdown with the imminent release of Prometheus in a couple of weeks, Ridley Scott has been talking a little bit about Blade Runner 2 (Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I’d write those words).
So what do we know? Well, it will be set “some years after the first film concluded”, thusly ruling out any involvement from Deckard (Harrison Ford), Rachel (Sean Young) or any of the other cast. Probably. He has also confirmed that the main antagonist will be a woman.
Another great bit of news is that Blade Runner co-writer Hampton Fancherin is in talks to pen the script based on an original idea by Scott himself, although so far Alcon Entertainment are staying very tight lipped.
We also know that Scott, Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin are producing the sequel.
Well, we can’t be any more excited about this… although we’re almost afraid to write this in case we either put the curse on it happening at all or in case it turns out… to… be… awful.
But undoubtedly the whole prospect of BR2 happening at all will ride on how good Prometheus is and how well it performs. So all our Nerdy fingers (and other extremities) remain crossed.
