With the great news that Agent Coulson is returning for the SHIELD TV series – and the rumours that he’s going to be in Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 won’t go away! - Marvel have released some more tidbits about upcoming productions Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Firstly, they have released an official synopsis for Thor: The Dark World:
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.
In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.
Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Next, it appears that Captain America, who has been very unlucky in love so far in the Marvel movie-verse, is set to have a love interest in The Winter Soldier in the shape of Sharon Carter, niece of Peggy Carter played by Hayley Atwell in the first movie. Apparently the front-runner for the role is the very lovely Mary Elizabeth Winstead (above), although previous rumoured actresses Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown-Findlay, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots and Alison Brie are all still in the mix.
Rumours also persist that Lost star Josh Holloway as well as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kevin Durand are all testing out for very physical roles in the sequel.
Oh Marvel, how you tease. But we do love it sooooo much.
The Winter Soldier will be released on April 4th 2014 and The Dark World will be out November 8th, 2013
