Cruise set for The Magnificent Seven remake

May 22nd, 2012 by bash Comments

It seems that nothing is sacred anymore after Variety revealed that Tom Cruise is planning to headline a remake of The Magnificent Seven.

The good news is that while Cruise has long been interested in saddling up for a remake, the project is still a long way off and is not in his immediate plans.

The 1960 original, itself a loose remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, starred Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, Horst Bucholz, James Colburn, Brad Dexter, Steve McQueen and Robert Vaughn as seven gunfighters-for-hire tasked with protecting a small Mexican village.

It spawned three sequels, 1966’s Return of the Magnificent Seven, 1969’s Guns of the Magnificent Seven, 1972’s The Magnifcent Seven Ride Again and a television series, simply called The Magnificent Seven, that ran two seasons beginning in 1998.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
