Some quick news on Ghostbusters 3, gang.
Despite rumours that Ernie Hudson had confirmed he’d been contacted about retuning to the role of Winston Zeddemore in the movie along with Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, the actor has confirmed that, no, he has not been contacted yet but hopes to be. Speaking to The Johnny Dare Morning Show, the actor said:
“I don’t know. Nobody has approached me with a contract. I think the Ghostbusters fans have been wanting [a “passing of the torch”] dynamic to happen, so I know whatever happens is going to be in that tradition… I’m excited about that. I’d be more excited if they called me and offered me a job, but no matter what happens the fact that they’re doing it is really cool.”
Sad news, but we still expect to see a reunion of the original remaining cast.
In other GB news, the movie has officially been given a release date: July 10th, 2020.
Sony are also releasing Morbius that month on the 30th.
After Leslie Jones’ distasteful rant about the new movie on Twitter last week (here), director of the reboot, Ghostbusters: Answer The Call, Paul Feig, has said he supports her opinion:

We don’t really blame Feig here, after all, he had been put in a position – the use of ‘her truth’ is a clever way of avoiding agreeing and yet not disagreeing, well dodged, sir…
Also, we don’t know how, but we missed that the movie’s shooting name will be Rust City. Make of that what you want, but we’re guessing it’s a nod to the disused equipment that’s been rusting for thirty years. The City is, of course, New York.
Finally, in casting news, we may have our first actress for the movie.
HN Entertainment has uncovered audition tapes (now deleted) from 12-year-old Canadian actress Sarah Abbott – she played 9-year-old Sara Sambrell in the Jodie Foster-directed episode of Black Mirror called Arkangel.
This casting news ties into the news we reported (here) about a young girl in the movie who is: 12 years of age… and is said to be an insanely smart kid. However, she often has a hard time with “interpreting and expressing emotions and speaks with a flat delivery that make her observations humorous.” Though she wants to connect with others, she struggles with interpreting how her family and friends feel and has difficulty sharing her own feelings. Her “science acumen” is said to prove invaluable throughout the story, though.
It sounds like she may be on the autistic spectrum from this transcript of the audition tapes:
SCENE #1:
GIRL: I’ve been working on a joke for people to feel more comfortable.
OTHER: Okay, let’s hear it.
GIRL: Two chemists go into a bar. The first one says “I’ll think I’ll have an H2O” the second one says “I think I’ll have H2O2″…and then he died.
OTHER: I don’t get it.
GIRL: H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide, you can’t drink it, it’s poisonous.
OTHER: That’s why it’s funny.
GIRL: Yeah, it’s a pretty hilarious joke.
OTHER: Hey, I got a call from Ms. Fannigan she seemed pretty upset.
GIRL: I asked her if she stopped dieting again.
OTHER: Why would you ask that?
GIRL: Because she’s been gaining weight.
OTHER: And this seemed like a good idea? To bring this up with her?
GIRL: Are you upset? Your forehead is tight that usually means you’re upset.
OTHER: That’s how you know I’m mad?
GIRL: That, and you start talking through your teeth. Like this [makes a grimace while talking through teeth]. When you really get angry your knuckles go white and your neck goes into a stress rash, and you have a sip from your whiskey you keep behind the towel.
OTHER: Got it. At your new school were you planning on making many friends?
SCENE #2:
OTHER: What are you reading?
GIRL: Joke book.
OTHER: You’re learning jokes to repeat?
GIRL: Apparently, the ingendered environment of trust and warmth.
OTHER: Sometimes they even make people laugh.
GIRL: I like jokes.
OTHER: Yeah, okay.
GIRL: I’m not a machine, I just don’t pick up on traditional social cues.
OTHER: Okay, what’s your favorite joke?
GIRL: Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
OTHER: I don’t know.
GIRL: If they flew over the bay they’d be bagels.
OTHER: It’s not awful.
GIRL: I didn’t write it.
OTHER: Noone writes jokes, they just kind of exist. Next time someone is telling you something kind of interesting just say ‘stop it’.
GIRL: Why?
OTHER: It makes it seem like your interested. Here try it and I’ll just talk about… Did you know there is more sand in New Mexico than the entire Sahara?
GIRL: That’s not true.
OTHER: I know, I’m just making it up, you know.. forget about it.
GIRL: Stop it!
OTHER: That’s not how it works.
