D&D Next open playtesting begins

June 1st, 2012 by StealthBuda 4 Comments

Last week open playtesting began on Wizards of the Coast’s D&D Next.  For those of you that haven’t already signed up and downloaded the playtest materials, you can do so here.

On Monday Wizards released a first round overview of the playtest materials in order to give a better insight into how things have developed rules wise so far.

Are you onboard the D&D Next playtest?  Do you think Wizards can win the fans back from Pathfinder or is it too late?

My group will be trying out the material soon, I’ll let you know how we get on.

I have my copy of stuff from DnDNext. Just have to get the time to read through it now 🙂

My group is meeting on Monday to play through it. Our GM has told us not to read through the stuff yet until he has sorted all the GM only stuff. I’m surprisingly looking forward to it. I think Pathfinder was a wake up call to WotC that they can’t just do what they like and make money.

  2. I was a role-player before a tabletop gamer and would love to get back to it but just cant seem to find the time. Played a small amount of D&D, Vampire, shadow Run and a few others but my all time favourite was Warhammer Fantasy roleplay. I would like to try to set up some sort of social media pen and paper RPG along the lines of Vassal.

I only got back in to RPG’s a few years ago with the release of DeathWatch (Fantasy Flight Games’ Space Marine rpg). I’d been buying Dark Heresy and the new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay products as source material. As a result of joining a DeathWatch group, I got back in to D&D again. Legend of the 5 Rings was always my RPG of choice though, hope I can convince my group to play that in the future 🙂 It does chew up a lot of time though, with those two groups I’ve lost two nights a week already.
