Not much is known about Marvel’s plans for Doctor Strange. But Kevin Feige has previously confirmed that they were working on the “bones” of a Dr. Strange film and that Strange will be part of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, likely following an Ant-Man movie. Well, now it looks like we have some more information, “100% confirmed,” from El Mayimbe of Latino Review regarding the villains Doctor Strange will be facing off against.
First we have Dormammu, an incredibly powerful mystic entity, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the 60’s. Dormammu is Strange’s Green Goblin, his Loki, a recurring nemesis. He’s a pretty much an obvious choice for a movie villain. As a secondary villain, Baron Mordo, a rival sorcerer of Strange and henchman of Dormammu. Finally there’s a Giant Mindless One, a golem-like creature summoned forth magically to do the will of its master (my guess would be Dormammu).
The same way that Guardians of the Galaxy will expand the Marvel cosmic universe, Doctor Strange potentially could do the same for the mystic realms. I’m really looking forward to Marvel’s Phase 3! With word that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on for Avengers sequels but no solo ones, other characters can get some time to shine.
Hopefully we’ll get more information about Doctor Strange at Comic-Con next month.
