Drive director to helm popular 1980s TV show

Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn is in early talks to direct Columbia Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of The Equalizer, according to Coming

Denzel Washington is attached to play the lead in the film which would be based on the popular 1980s TV show which starred Edward Woodward as Robert McCall.

The premise involves a private detective with a lot of contacts who is available for hire if you have a problem that you don’t know how to solve.

The movie, which is scheduled for release on April 11, 2014, has been written by Richard Wenk.
