EVENT NEWS: FTN previews Q-Con, Belfast 2013

June 27th, 2013 by Big Phil Comments

Yes my fellow Nerds and Nerdettes, Q-Con, the largest Gaming and Anime convention in the whole of the UK and Ireland is back!

Q-Con, now in its 20th year, is once again being held at Queens University Belfast from Friday 28th June to Sunday 30th June and it is shaping up to be the biggest one yet.

With LARP’s (Live Action Role Play games), RP’s (Role Playing games), table top gaming, card gaming, cosplay, console and arcade machine games, competitions, traders areas and live music, there literally is something for everyone at this year’s event.

Events will be taking place all over the weekend with registration starting on Friday 28th June from 5pm, attendees are advised to sign up early for any of the numerous games they wish to take part in as some places are limited and fill up very quickly.

Prices for this event range from £10 per day entry fee to a full weekend’s pass at £20, all of which includes information on all of the activities taking place, a handy map showing their location and, more importantly, a time-table so that gamers wont miss the important start times.

But don’t worry if you can’t make it, as I will be there at my most energetic and nerdiest taking part (let’s face it, would you have it any other way?) and going by last year’s experience, I can’t wait to immerse myself in some good old fashioned role play based on popular books or films (I hear there is even a Star Wars Role Play Game!).

Stay tuned throughout the weekend for updates on this amazing Con, complete with pictures and, who knows, maybe I’ll get a place in a competition.

DISCO! Starting off this year’s birthday celebrations is the Friday night Comedy club with Jarred Christmas & Colin Murphy, Live band performances from The Spoony Bards and ending the night with Retro_Con – DJ Sandman brings the best of Geek Tunes from all your favourite Video Games, Anime, Movies, TV Shows and even some from your childhood no matter your age!

Both events are 18+ and the Comedy Club has a suggested £1 minimum ticket charge & Best of all Retro_Con is free admission! More info here

I arrived on Earth in 1977 and have virtually devoted my entire existence to cult films, television programmes and cartoons. I am a very big fan of Star Wars and Star Trek; I may struggle with foreign languages but I can order live Gagh in Klingon! I’m the Nerd that knows the trivia but I’m hopeless at sport!
