The Dallas Comic Con is almost upon us here in Dallas, Texas. I for one am super excited as it will be my first Con ever! It kicks off Friday October 19 at 2:00pm and runs through Sunday the 21st. They are expecting a huge turnout this year as the number of attendees doubled from 10,000 at their February event to 20,000 at the May event. Since this is the signature event I’m sure it will be even bigger. Extra food concessions have been added as well as routing of foot traffic through more covered areas.
We are also expecting a great line up of guests as well. Ian McDiarmid and David Prowse, known in the Kingdom of Nerd as Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, will make appearances on Friday. On Saturday Burn Notice and Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell will be on hand to sign autographs. Lance Henriksen, Bishop from Aliens as well as the new Tron Uprising cartoon will be on hand Saturday and Sunday.
If you are a Lord Of The Rings fan, or The Goonies(one of my favorites!) , Sean Astin will make appearances as well. Starship Troopers Dina Meyer and Casper Van Dien are appearing Saturday and Sunday. In a rare appearance Firefly/Serenity’s Gina Torres and on screen husband Alan Tudyk are appearing as well.
The big showing of course will be the man, the myth, the legend himself Stan Lee. I’m sure I don’t need to list his credits since everybody in the known universe knows who this guy is(if you don’t than get off my articles. Just kidding, just kidding…but seriously.). Stan will be on hand all three days of the convention to sign autographs as well as holding a special Q&A session on Friday at 6:30pm.
If you’re in the Dallas area and are a huge nerd of any genre come on down. There is sure to be something there for you. Admission is $20 for Friday, $30 on Saturday and $20 on Sunday. A special 3 day pass is also available for $60. Being the kids too, $5 with a paying adult. The hours are 2-8pm on Friday, 11am-7pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday. Tickets are available an hour before the doors open at the box office. The show is being held at the Irving Convention Center, 500 W.Las Colinas Blvd. Irving, TX at the intersection of SH 114 and Northwest Highway.
