Filmtrip to enhance US interactive experience

March 8th, 2012 by bash Comments

Belfast-based Filmtrip Ltd has announced the launch of the beta version of Sensum, its emotional response platform, at two top USA film and interactive media festivals this month and in April.

Two years in development, Sensum is a mobile platform that enables users’ conscious and emotional choices to personalise standard entertainment experiences in real time, opening them up to new layers of exploration, enjoyment and play.

Filmtrip will be showcasing Sensum at the Northern Ireland SXSW Party on Monday March, 12th at 7pm. This is part of the South by Southwest Festival and the venue is the British Music Embassy, Latitude 30, San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, Texas. They will also be showcasing Sensum as part of the UK Demo Day hosted by UK Trade & Investment and Thomson Reuters on Sunday 11th March at 3.30pm at the Hilton, Austin.

On April 20th Filmtrip will host an advanced launch of Sensum in association with the British Film Council at the Norwood Club alongside the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

Filmtrip CEO Gawain Morrison said: “We are delighted to be back at SXSW after the interest and support our emotional response entertainment event generated last year at the festival.

“Whether it’s live, on demand or second device TV or interactive cinema, Sensum brings you closer to your favourite forms of digital entertainment. You plug your sensor into your phone, open the app and you’re good to go; your emotions become part of the story, wherever you go.”

From subtle changes in film sound score to the possibility of emotionally-generated dreamscapes in videogame applications, Sensum closes the emotional feedback loop between emotional responses and the choices of users of entertainment media.

“Forget kinetic or mind-operated game controllers; this is enjoying and exploring all your media with mind and soul.” added Morrison.

Sensum’s reporting is particularly useful to producers of entertainment products, especially for audience testing and marketing purposes.

Filmtrip has been assisted with support through the Creative Industries Innovations Fund provided by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen & the British Council.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
