FTN Blog 2012 EP4

February 13th, 2012 by Marc Comments

It’s been a bit of a hectic week at FTN HQ. With Marc cracking the whip you barely get a second to yourself, but all in a good way of course.

So what have I been up to this last while? Well I’ll tell ya. I have watched probably the best movie of the last 12 months and arguably one of the best movies, with a sporting theme, ever!

If you haven’t read my feature story about Warrior then hit this link. I’ll not go into it much other than to say it simply inspired me to be a better person, full stop. Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte give the performances of their lives in a family drama that has you gripped from the very first minute. I honestly can’t recommend it enough. It’s even a film you can watch with your wife or girlfriend which is an added bonus.

Star Wars has played a big part in all our nerd lives since we were young and a week doesn’t go by without it being part of my life in some way. Whether reading about George Lucas’ latest tinkerings, or playing Star Wars Battleground, my love for a galaxy far, far away continues.

This week ofcourse was the release of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace in 3D. As I type this I haven’t watched it but Marc has and to be fair to him his review was very honest and open.

I’m taking my young daughter to see it during a school break next week and cannot wait to see the podrace in 3D…stuff all you Jar Jar haters…nah I’m kidding, I understand the hatred!

Anyway, that’s it for this week. Short, sweet but as ever informative!

We’ll speak again soon I’m sure.

PS Don’t forget to keep an eye on our website for all the latest news regarding Heroes and Legends in Belfast this weekend – we’re hosting it and if you fancy winning a family pass, just click trough here.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
