FTN EXCLUSIVE: Northern Irish Filmmaker Exorcises his Demons with Horror Icon.

June 11th, 2012 by Marc Comments

Shooting kicked off  on Saturday in Birmingham on the latest Short Horror film from the Armagh-based Filmmaker Neville Steenson and taking the lead is one of the most famous faces in the Horror industry Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist).

The Film “Youth of Today” written by Neville Steenson and Produced by Film Division UK and Directed by Michelle Hands tells the story of three petty hoods who get more then they bargain for when they try to rob a seemingly helpless middle aged lady….
“Having Eileen (Dietz) working on this project is a dream come true” states the Armagh based Writer. “Growing up like so many during the video nasties period fewer films especially in Ireland caused more of a furore then The Exorcist, and after seeing the film at a young age it changed my perception on Horror and what kind of a profound effect it could have on such a large number of people. And it always helps when an actor is so generous and a pleasure to work with”.
The Filmmaker goes on to say “When Eileen noted her interest in the film we jumped at the chance to do what we could to have her onboard, after all she is the face that caused many sleepless nights for many kids of a generation by playing the Demon “Pazuzu” in the iconic film”.
With “Youth of Today” Eileen will play a complicated character who has a very dark side and is not the stereotypical victim by any stretch of the imagination.
Shooting will continue over the next few days and the film will feature in the festival circuit later this year.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
