FTN Spooky Sundays! Weird things caught on Google Maps

OK, we all know Google maps is a force for good, it maps out our whole planet and will one day will ensure we never, ever get lost while tracking our every move and location. Well, not ENTIRELY good.

However, every now and then the vehicles mapping our great green and blue planet capture images that, in FB terminology, make us go WTF?!

Here’s a few of them courtesy of Digg

Let us know your thoughts below, @NerdFollowing on Twitter or on Facebook

I arrived on Earth in 1977 and have virtually devoted my entire existence to cult films, television programmes and cartoons. I am a very big fan of Star Wars and Star Trek; I may struggle with foreign languages but I can order live Gagh in Klingon! I’m the Nerd that knows the trivia but I’m hopeless at sport!

Ooooh the last one, and the Atlantis one are brilliant!!

The last one is a Russian-built SA-2 missile battery (or a copy of one). There are six launchers and a command centre in the middle interconnected by roads. (see a similar site in Syria here,36.483333&ie=UTF8&ll=32.635513,36.180698&spn=0.002665,0.00515&z=18 ).

This weapon system is widely used but there are many replicas of these built in the Nevada desert too for the USAF to practise attacking.

    Hope this helps.

We’re more worried about the Daleks invading. At least they exist, sort of.
