About bloody time! John Constantine becomes a series regular for Season 4 of Legends of Tomorrow

March 20th, 2018 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

“My name is John Constantine. I am the one who steps from the shadows, all trench coat and arrogance. I’ll drive your demons away, kick ’em in the bollocks and spit on them when they’re down, leaving only a nod and a wink and a wisecrack. I walk my path alone because, let’s be honest… who would be crazy enough to walk it with me?”

As we all wait with baited breath for the very much hoped for announcement of the renewal of the fourth season of Legends of Tomorrow it looks like fan favourite John Constantine will be a series regular if/when the series is renewed.

It looks like the master of the dark arts has finally found a group of heroes that are just crazy enough to walk his path alongside him as multiple sources are reporting that The CW has promoted Matt Ryan, who portrays the occult detective John Constantine, to series regular – granted that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is renewed for a fourth season.

Ryan has already reprised this role twice so far this season and is down to return in the April ninth season finale. His appearance in the finale will hopefully serve as a set up for the possible fourth season [dear CW could you somehow incorporate a way to wrap up the finale of the NBC Constantine series? We’re all still dying to find out how it wrapped up!].

He now becomes the third permanent new cast member aboard the Waverider after Tala Ashe (Zari Adrianna Tomaz) and Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash) were added to the team this season to compensate for the departures of Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm), Franz Drameh (Jefferson “Jax” Jackson/Firestorm) and Wentworth Miller (Leo Snart/Citizen Cold).

As for the show’s chances at getting renewed, it remains up in the air at the moment, but CW president Mark Pedowitz did previously say that he was “optimistic” that all of their DC TV slate would return.

I’m loving this current season of Legends and have everything that can be crossed crossed (and a few that probably shouldn’t be crossed) that it gets renewed for a fourth Season and Matt Ryan will be a most bloody welcome addition to the cast.
