Amidst the talks that Zoe Saldana is negotiating to play Gamora, the last human filled role of the main team, Rocket Raccoon and Groot will be CG, the cast is shaping up nicely and Guardians is currently set to begin production in England this June. As part of these preparations, UK motorcycle manufacturers have been approached by Marvel, who are apparently seeking futuristic-looking electric bikes that will be used in a film that will be shot in England for an imaginary 2045.

“The MCI has been contacted by the film makers Marvel, who are looking for electric bikes with a ‘futuristic’ look to use in a major feature film. This will be shot in England in an imaginary 2045. The film makers have not been able to specify the exact number needed only that it would defiantly be more than one – to be decided by the director.”
Although Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t named as the major production these prospective futuristic bikes will feature in, it is only one of two Marvel Phase 2 movies that are slated to film in the UK, the other being Avengers 2.
However, what’s most interesting from the above quote is that Guardians may take place in the year 2045. The original Guardians of the Galaxy are actually from the future too, the 31st century to be exact, the current team is not as Iron Man is currently teaming up with them. Could this be some sort of compromise?
Could Guardians be set in a future where Thanos rules with an iron fist, or more appropriately an Infinity Gauntlet? Maybe they travel back in time to seek the Avengers aid in stopping Thanos before he can gain omnipotent power?
There is also one other idea I had, albeit a far-fetched one. Whenever time travel takes place in the Marvel Universe, one must at least mention Kang the Conqueror. He played a big role in the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon, he is a major Avengers villain, and if I recall correctly was used in the 2008 Guardians comic by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, of which the movie is based on.
