Movie composer Hans Zimmer is to score Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel despite dropping rumours last year that he would not be involved in the Superman reboot.
According to Variety, the German, who is reponsible for Christopher Nolan’s Batman scores, will definitely compose the music for next year’s release. However, there is no confirmation on why he has changed his mind.
Commenting on scoring the project last year, Zimmer said: “My heart belongs to Batman. I wouldn’t even know how to go and give voice to it.”
He also went on to explain that one of the troubles with tackling the character musically is that it would be difficult to top John William’s iconic score.
“[It] happens to be one of his greatest themes,” Zimmer said. “So no. And I’m not thinking of rewriting Beethoven’s ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that’s unequivocally a no.”
