Harrison Ford talks Star Wars and mending bridges with George Lucas

While we still wait for an official announcement that Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford will be reprising their roles in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, Ford talks about returning to his iconic roles, and mending bridges with George Lucas.

Here’s what he told MTV during a press junket for his new movie 42, about being pulled back into the classic franchises that he starred in: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner.

“It might be nice, depending on the circumstances, to revisit any one of those characters. What interests me now is the opportunity to work at all and to work in ambitious projects. I can’t think that way. What I’m looking for is the next opportunity, the next ambitious opportunity. It doesn’t matter if it’s one of those. If it’s one of those, great. If it’s not, that’s fine too.”

Notice that he says the word ambitious twice. Can Star Wars: Episode VII be called anything but? It certainly seems like all signs point to Ford throwing on his vest and DL-44 heavy blaster pistol again as Han Solo, which I know I want. But as you may remember in the past, Ford has criticized Lucas’ ability as a writer to deliver convincing dialogue.  according to Ford his stance on the subject may have softened:

“I might have said things in the past that were characterizations of how I felt at the time. That was then. This is now. It doesn’t matter.”

We’ve all said dumb things in the past, and we’ve certainly all been mad at our bosses. We know that Han shoots first perhaps this applies to opinions as well. Let’s cut him some slack it’s not likely to matter much anyway, Lucas isn’t writing or directing Star Wars: Episode VII.
