Guillermo del Toro has revealed that his next film after Pacific Rim will be a haunted house movie called Crimson Peak.
According to Collider.com, the director described the film as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story”.
“It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules,” he added.
Elsewhere, del Toro, who was set to direct an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness with Tom Cruise starring and James Cameron producing before Universal abruptly pulled the plug over budget concerns, has confirmed that he hopes to finally get the film made with Legendary studios.
“They love [At the Mountains of Madness], but we just finished Pacific Rim. They want to let that film happen and then my hope is, down the line we can do it,” he said.
