Robert De Niro has spoken at the Tribeca Film Festival about plans for a sequel to his 1988 comedy Midnight Run.
When questioned about the return of his character Jack Walsh, he said: “Somebody approached me, a young writer and he said how much he liked [the first film] and he said, ‘I’m writing a sequel if you want to [read it]’. And I said, ‘Sure! Fine.’ So it’s been going through these kind of changes.”
When pressed about what the sequel would be about, he added: “Well, he’s helping the son of Charles Grodin [and] he’s gotten himself in trouble. And so that’s where we are and the script is being re-worked again. But I hope to do it. It was a lot of fun to do.”
