I’m not playing Khan: Cumberbatch

December 13th, 2012 by bash 1 Comment

Benedict Cumberbatch has told Access Hollywood that despite intense fanboy speculation, he is not playing Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness.

We already know that his character is called John Harrison, however some believe this is just a ruse to throw of us of the scent. Not so it seems.

“I play a character called John and not that other name. It’s interesting. Speculation is speculation and that’s all fun,” said Cumberbatch.

Revealing more about this mysterious character, he continued: “I play John Harrison who’s a terrorist and an extraordinary character in his own right.

“He’s somebody who is not your two-dimensional cookie cutter villain. He’s got an extraordinary purpose, and I hope that at one point or other in the film you might even sympathize with the reasons he’s doing what he’s doing — not necessarily the means and the destruction he causes.

“But it was a great ride, not just because he’s the bad guy and the antagonist but also because he has a purpose and it’s hard not to see his point of view at certain points.”

So there you have it. Khan isn’t in the next Star Trek. Or do some of us still not believe it? As ever we’d love to hear your thoughts.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
