Independence Day 2 gets release date

June 21st, 2013 by bash 1 Comment

20th Century Fox has confirmed that Independence Day 2 will be released on the Fourth of July weekend in 2015.

The Roland Emmerich film joins a number of other big blockbuster sequels released that summer including The Avengers 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Jurassic Park 4, Finding Dory and Star Wars: Episode VII.

ID4 2 is one of two proposed Independence Day sequels currently in development, and Emmerich recently revealed that the films will take place 20 years after the events of the first film, at which point the aliens finally return with reinforcements.

Will Smith is not expected to return, but Bill Pullman will reprise his role as the (now former) President of the United States. However, the story will primarily focus on younger characters with Independence Day 2 ending with a cliffhanger that leads into the third film.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.

The original was something of a classic to me even if it is awash with American sentimentalism. It will either be really good or really awful these sequels. Why does Hollywood only seem to concentrate on sequels or remakes now? The original Independence Day doesn’t even need a sequel, let alone two of them.
