This rumour raises it’s head every so often with Doctor Who, so to be honest we’re treating it as rumour of the highest order. But we have an obligation to report this stuff.
The Express is reporting that True Blood and Sherlock star Lara Pulver is set for the biggest role on TV… The Doctor!
The story goes that with the show already working on its 50th Anniversary celebrations and big story arcs, the biggest twist of all is coming when current Doctor Matt Smith gets killed off and regenerates into this exceptionally hot woman at the climax of next season.
But will it happen? We say ‘no’. Every time a new Doctor rumour comes up it kicks off that he’ll be played by a woman or a black actor. We don’t have any problem with either, but we do think the BBC are a long, long way off taking such a chance.
That said, the Doctor has had some exciting timelady enemies like the Rani that Pulver would be perfect for and the Who universe – or whoniverse – has plenty of room for more spin-offs, so we wouldn’t rule her out as being heavily involved, but as the Doctor? Not likely (We are going to be eating humble pie this time next year, aren’t we? – Ed).
