Is Terra Nova being offered a stay of execution?

March 8th, 2012 by Marc Comments

As we all know, Steven Spielberg’s failed time travel/dinosaur adventure series Terra Nova has been cancelled – why can Spielberg not get TV right when he has had so many great movies? – but it now looks like there may be hope for it yet.

Netflix, yes the guys who provide movie/tv rentals, is apparently in talks to resurrect the show much like they did with Arrested Development. The idea is that Terra Nova would screen exclusively through Netflix.

Now we know series get second chances – Family Guy, Chuck, the list goes on – but we’re kinda wondering why they haven’t taken on Firefly! Sorry, the Browncoat in me got all carried away for a second there.

Deadline are reporting that Netflix and 20th Cebtury Fox are in negotiations about the show’s future, although it’s very, very early days at the minute. Our thought would be that Terra Nova would be a very expensive series to produce and we wonder if Netflix could handle it… either way, it’ll be nteresting to see if anything comes of this and if so, will it offer a gleam of hope for other cancelled shows we love?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
