Is the Rocketeer set to soar again?

August 22nd, 2012 by bash No Comments

Vulture is reporting that Walt Disney Pictures is planning to reboot their 1991 comic book adaptation The Rocketeer.

The site is claiming that the studio is hearing pitches from writers to decide on an appropriate take, however there is no confirmation that such a project is underway.

The Rocketeer was created by Dave Stevens in 1982 and first published by Pacific Comics a year later.

Set in 1938, the story follows stunt pilot Cliff Secord who comes into possession of an experimental jetpack that allows him to take his fight for justice to the skies.

A movie adaptation was release in 1991 starring Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin and Timothy Dalton.

While it failed to set alight the box office it has since become a cult favourite amongst movie fans.

Hi all. I'm Bash, I'm 33, and I became a nerd when I first saw Star Wars as a child. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. At Following the Nerd, I'm Marc's right hand man and can be heard every Thursday trying to be funny on our radio show. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
