May 20th, 2013 by Edwin Torres Jr Comments

According to El Mayimbe of Latino Review we may have our first bit of Episode VII casting news, if you don’t count the original 3 coming back.  He says that Irish actor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, is in negotiates to be the lead in Star Wars: Episode VII. The film will be directed by J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek Into Darkness”), who in the past worked with Jonathan on 2006′s Mission Impossible: III.

Little is known about the follow-up to 1983′s Return of the Jedi so far. But stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are expected to reprise their roles.

Best known for his role in The Tudors, Meyers will next be seen in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and in the title role of the Dracula TV series.

Toy Story 3 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire writer Michael Arndt is working on the screenplay for Star Wars Episode 7, which is scheduled to arrive in 2015.

What do you think if the rumor turns out to be true?
