Juliet Landau brings Drusilla back to the Buffy-verse

February 29th, 2012 by Marc 3 Comments

As a group of Buffy fans we at FTN all have different things we love… but one thing we all can agree on is our love of Spike and his crazy girlfriend Drusilla, or Dru as she was called by the bleached one.

Played wonderfully by Juliet Landau, Dru was a peasant girl driven insane by Spike before being turned into his vamp bride as such… her insanity carried over into her vampire state, got worse and eventually she became something of a seer. Her exit from the series (and Angel) was both unexpected and disappointing.

However, yay!, Landau is back in the Buffy-verse and will be writing a 5-part Drusilla spin-off comic series which will start in June after she appears in Angel & Faith #9. Cliff Richards and Tim Seeley will be looking after art detail.

This isn’t the first time Landau has written a Dru story as she penned a two-part story for IDW’s Angel: After The Fall which also focused on the character.

Landau spoke to EW about playing Drusilla: “I think you will get different sides of Drusilla than have ever been seen before. It was an actor’s dream role. There’s so much range and dimension and so many different colors to the character. It’s just really rife with possibilities in terms of where you can go. You can go to any era or any direction, really.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
