Karate Kid sequel on the way

February 8th, 2012 by bash No Comments

Variety is reporting that a sequel to the 2010 hit The Karate Kid is underway.

Columbia Pictures have drafted in Zak Penn to provide the screenplay while negotiations are supposedly underway with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith to return.

Penn has most notably worked on The Incredible Hulk movie in 2008 and the Syfy series Alphas.

The plot of the first movie concerned a 12-year-old boy (Smith) from Detroit who moves to Beijing in China with his mother and runs into trouble with the neighborhood bully. He makes an unlikely ally in the form of his aging maintenance man, Mr Han (Chan), a kung fu master who teaches him the secrets to self-defense.

The Karate Kid made $358 million worldwide on its theatrical release.

Hi all. I'm Bash, I'm 33, and I became a nerd when I first saw Star Wars as a child. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. At Following the Nerd, I'm Marc's right hand man and can be heard every Thursday trying to be funny on our radio show. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
