Kick-Ass 2 filming this year with new director/writer?

The rumour mill is about to kick-off with this breaking news that Universal are pushing forward with a sequel to one of our favourite super-hero movies, Kick-Ass.

Apparently Universal have taken the rights for Kick-Ass 2 from Matthew Vaughn’s (director of the first movie) production company.
Jeff Wadlow, writer of Cry Wolf and Never Back Down has written the script and is set to direct.
Now, while we are never too keen on sequels switching hands like this, the news that Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are all in line to return (fingers crossed) and the movie will be in production this fall has us a little giddy.
We ran a story a while back claiming Mark Millar was confident the movie would be filming this summer. Despite being a few weeks out, it looks like he may have known something way back then…

We have a great love for the first movie, the performances are spot on and the realism works really well. If the sequel can re-capture the shot in the arm formula of the first movie then paint us excited.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
