OK, we at FTN love a videogame adventure as much as anyone, heck we even love a bit of roleplay, but the LAPD just took these to a whole new level…
According to Intellihub.com the LAPD were in a very unique stand-off at the Robotoki headquarters on Friday night as they detained the studio head Robert Bowling and then turned on what was described as a ‘heavily armed suspect’.
The site reports that an employee of the company pressed a panic button after they saw an armed man at the building and feared they were about to find themselves in a hostage or terrorist situation. So the LAPD stormed the building (above).
However, about 30mins in to the raid they realised all was not as it seemed. Mt Robert Bowling told reporters: “They yelled for me to put my hands up and walk towards them slowly, then took me into custody and out of the studio until they cleared the rest of the rooms and floors.”
It was at this point they realised the ‘terrorist’ was in fact a statue of Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley from the video game Ghost Protocol (below). D’oh!
Still, we must commend the LAPD on their swift response and, while the story is funny, be thankful that the situation they feared was not the situation it was.
