It looks like the folks at Fox are wasting no time filling the sci-fi void that will surely be left in the wake of Fringe’s last season. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that te studio has teamed up with Life On Mars creator Matthew Graham to bring the new show to life.
There’s no official word on the premise of the show other than it being about a group that polices parallel worlds. Well, that’s all I needed to see. Provided that the production value is good, I’m sold!
It’s well known that your man Christopher is a huge fan of parallel worlds and time travel so this show is right up my alley. In fact when Fringe first debuted, I found it’s mystery of the week format to be a bit boring (I got really sick of seeing Olivia in the tank) until they all connected together into a tale of…a parallel universe. From that point on I was hooked. And don’t get me started on last season’s time traveling romp to the future. It was easily one of my favorite Fringe episodes ever.
Graham, who’s other works include writing for Doctor Who as well as co-creating Ashes to Ashes and Eternal Law, will be penning the new series. Producing the show will be Steve Tzirlin, a former Lucas Film exec (yesssssss!), who’s latest gig was overseeing Fox’s writers program.
If this show can bring high production value and good stories then I’m all in like Phil Helmuth at the World Series of Poker. No word on a working title or premier date, but stay tuned as I will be keeping a close eye on this one as further news develops.
