Mantic Needs A Kickstart.

May 29th, 2012 by Mad Dave 4 Comments

Mantic Games have recently started their own Kickstarter project to help fund a wide range of new miniatures to include Werewolves and Orgres.

Kickstarter is a “funding platform for creative projects” acording to the website also known as crowd funding.

The basic premise of this is, if you see a project that you like, be it video game, book or in this case miniatures for table top gaming you pledge a sum of money that suits you usually anything from $1 up with different rewards offered by each individual project for various pledge levels, in the case of Mantic’s project here is just a few of their rewards.

Pledging $20 or more will get you an electronic copy of the new Kings of War rule book.

A pledge of $35 or more will get you a Kings of War Hardback Rulebook, Mini-rulebook and 10 Dice.

Get gaming with Soldier and choose from one of the following regiments:

Undead – 20 Skeletons with command, 20 Zombies, 20 Ghouls, 20 Revenants with Command

Orcs – 20 Ax with Command, 20 Greatax with Command

Dwarfs – 20 Ironclad with command, 20 Ironwatch with Command, 20 Shieldbreakers with Command

Elves – 20 Spearmen with command, 20 Bowmen with command, 20 Scouts with command.

These pledge levels continue right up to $5000+ which had a 2 pledge limit that has already been filled.

King + we’ll also give you a 1000 point Kings of War Human army, which will be released in 2013. Not only that but we’ll sculpt a hero in your likeness and name it in your honour (with a fantasy twist!), as well as include you in the development of the human army rules.

We will then fly you from New York (or equivalent) to Nottingham, UK where you can collect your army, visit the Mantic Studio and play a game of Kings of War with Ronnie.

Mantic’s kickstarter project is set to run for another 26 days and has already exceeded all their expectations.

If you would like to get involved in Mantic’s Kickerstarter you will find it here .

I'm Mad Dave one of the team's growing collection of tabletop gaming nerds. I was raised on a healthy diet of TV like Blake 7, Doctor Who and Star Trek with a side of sword and sorcery / sc-fi movies and a large dollop of board games like Cluedo, RISK and Hero Quest. You know your a gaming nerd if: You bring toy soldiers to work? You bring toy soldiers to work and you work has nothing to do with toy soldiers? Most of you jackets / coats have dice in one of the pockets? You hate throwing away packaging because you know it's actually a ruined building or field generator? You have a collection of old packaging? You can find something relevant to your hobby i.e. books, magazines, figures etc in almost every room in your house? I no I'm a nerd because I've done all of the above, how many of these made you smile and nod yes to?

It seems to have done th job for Mantic and Studio McVey’s Sedition Wars product. Both great companies and good news this may have just saved more than one gaming system.

Yeh Chris it’s a very good idea so long as it works but it’s only going to take a few dodgy projects to through a spanner in the works for the rest of them.
Both Studio McVey and Mantic do sterling work and I believe Mini Wargaming had a project up as well on Indiegogo which was also very successful.

Thanks for the shout-out Dave – support for our project has been overwhelming!

@Mantic. Not a bother guys, and yes the fans have really come together for yous on the project and it goes to show you just how much support you have out there. I have to say I’m really excited about the werewolves and cant wait to see them.
    Keep up the good work.
