We’ve heard a lot of Justice League rumours over the last few days and now comic guru Mark Millar has weighed in with what he’s heard about the project.
Well, as we reported a couple of days ago, the Justice League movie is being pushed forward at Warners ahead of a Wonder Woman, Green Lantern 2 and Flash movie. Now, the cynic in us feels that DC want to cash in The Avengers success. However, Mark Millar sheds a little more light on the situation on his website:
A pal of mine is good friends with the new Justice League screenwriter and said his take on the team is incredible. Very real-world and not at all what you might expect. WB has a chequered history with their superhero characters. They’re great with their boy wizards, but less consistent with their DC stable. But my chum said that this could be a thing of beauty and has been in the works for a little while now, not just an avengers knock-off. Best of luck to them. The tidbits I heard sound quite dark and mature, which isn’t what I expected. But word on Gangster Squad is great too so I feel this is in really good hands.
So what does this mean?
Does it mean Warners are going to approach Justice League in the same way they approached Batman? In a gritty, real world way? We hope not, it certainly wouldn’t work.
That said, we’ve seen the first Green Lantern movie and from what we’ve seen of Snyder’s Man of Steel surely ‘real world’ isn’t the word of the day with Warners? Haven’t they said they’ll reboot Batman quickly after Nolan’s movies in a whole new way? Our brains hurt…
