Deadline.com is reporting that Steven Spielberg is set to direct a movie based on Jewish leader Moses.
The film, which has the working title Gods and Kings, would be a “Braveheart-ish version of the Moses story” with Warner Bros hoping that The War Horse director will film it with the gritty realism he used in Saving Private Ryan.
The last big production about the Moses story was directed by Cecile B. DeMille back in 1956. The Ten Commandments starred Charlton Heston in the lead role and dramatised the biblical story of the Exodus, in which the Hebrew-born Moses, an adopted Egyptian prince, becomes the deliverer of the Hebrew slaves.
Warner Bros wants to start production sometime in March or April of 2013, the website said.
