Percy Jackson sequel faces the Fates

March 1st, 2012 by Marc 1 Comment

One of my & my son’s favourite kids’ movies of recent years was Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. It terrified and exhilarated my son and we had hours of great banter afterwards talking about Hades, the Medussa and Greek mythology.. the kind of stuff I love getting into with a mind as young as his.

So we’re both pretty excited by the news that the sequel in which Percy looks for the Golden Fleece, “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: Sea of Monsters”, is not only coming but is well fleshed out already.

Three big characters in the story, the three sisters called the Fates who control man’s destiny, have been cast as Mary Birdsong (“Reno 911″), Yvette Nicole Brown (“Community”) and Missi Pyle (“The Artist”) according to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘Dairy Of A Wimpy Kid’ director Thor Freudenthal will direct this one and the first movie’s leads Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson will all reprise their roles.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….

I really liked this movie. Not only because of my affection for the name Logan but it was a ton of fun and I think had potential to get better as it went forward. Really looking forward to seeing the next installment.
