Before we get in to the free stuff, a little introduction. I’m a new writer at FTN and over the coming months, years, decades etc I’ll be bringing you gaming news, previews and reviews, with the occasional film, anime, TV show, comic and role-playing stuff thrown in to show I’m a balanced person, but my main focus will be on event reports. I attend as many events as I can and then report on them for those who are unable to attend. Through attending these events, I have slowly built up an uncanny nack to seek out free promotional and competition items which I collect and then generally give away.
Obviously not all events allow you to gather hordes of free stuff, but there’s usually a little something kicking around.
Last time I attended Eurogamer Expo (gaming convention held at Earl’s Court in London in September), I produced a guide, for those attending after the Press day, to the free stuff available there (the article can be found here) and then listed my total sum of free stuff after the four day convention had finished (that article can be found here).
Now aside from a shameless self plug of a previous article, it shows two things. 1: How much stuff is on offer if you can find it and 2: How good I am at finding it.
Over the last three days I’ve been attending MCM at the Excel Centre in London’s Docklands. MCM is by far the biggest UK anime, comic, movie and cosplay convention. Four reports will follow over the next few days containing information I received from two panels, my first play of Lollipop Chainsaw and a convention roundup.
But before that, free stuff. Over the next five days, FTN will be running competitions to win a variety of promotional items that I gained over MCM, through tenacity, buying other stuff, being in the right place and talking to staff. You will have to earn this free stuff through a variety of means. There will be a mixture of prizes and on some days there will also be runner up prizes. All of them will be free to enter and a winner will be picked at random. All of the MCM Free Stuff competitions are only open to residents of the UK and Ireland. All other details will be published with each competition.
To get a head start with the competitions, you have to do five things:
- Follow FTN on Twitter
- Follow StealthBuda on Twitter
- Like FTN on Facebook
- Like StealthBuda on Facebook
- Have an account with Disqus in order to comment on posts on the main FTN site
All five of these will be used across all five competitions. Watch out for the first competition!
