Prometheus cast and crew get a little (too) chatty about movie details. Spoilers herein

April 6th, 2012 by Marc Comments

The guys over at The Sci-fi Show have a great behind the scenes feature on their website on the movie Prometheus. They talk with all the principles from the movie and a lot of the chat is pretty standard stuff, however…
The did get a few spoiler-ific bits from two people in particular. Firstly, production designer Arthur Max spoke about the pilots of the giant ship – the space jockeys -from the original Alien and said: “Very loosely, these creatures are some kind of genetic Engineers on an interplanetary level… They go around creating life. In certain ways, they’re kind of God-like.” Now, anyone who has been reading about Prometheus over the last few months will know there was rumours and a leaked script that all claimed the Space Jockeys may be responsible for the creation of the human race and the xenomorphs may fit in there somewhere too, so it would appear Mr Max has confirmed there’s at least some truth to these rumours.

The next interesting tidbit came from FTN favourite Michal Fassbender: “There’s always politics within, and that’s why, I think, this cast got together. The tempo, the pace, the intelligence of the script; each person has got their own agenda on that ship and it’s each a very individual agenda. Some people are there for the pay. Other people are there to get answers. Other people are there to hopefully attain some sort of secret. Others are there in somewhat of a spite journey. You’ve got all these collective relationships, individuals and motivations and that’s what makes quite intriguing even before the s@#t hits the fan.”

This is a nice insight into what we can expect from the crew of Prometheus and the characters they’ll inhabit… it’s impossible not to get excited for this movie… only two months to go!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
