Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has died at the age of 54.

The Armageddon star suffered a heart attack in July and died at a hospital in Los Angeles after failing to recover.

He was nominated for an Oscar in 1999 for The Green Mile, but also played prominant roles in Daredevil, Talladega Nights and Two and a Half Men.

In a statement, his Green Mile co-star Tom Hanks said: “I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike.

“He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic.

“He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned.”

Actress Olivia Munn said: “Michael Clarke Duncan always had a smile on his face & a big bear hug ready for you.

“My thoughts & prayers are with his family & friends. RIP.”

Hi all. I'm Bash, I'm 33, and I became a nerd when I first saw Star Wars as a child. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. At Following the Nerd, I'm Marc's right hand man and can be heard every Thursday trying to be funny on our radio show. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
