I don’t like Will Ferrell. I’m sorry, but I think he’s terminally NOT funny. However, I do like Anchorman. I’m not sure why, but it works on so many levels and has such a rich line-up of genuinely funny supporting characters. It harkens back to times – real or imagined – gone by.
So, it is with genuine optimism that I’m writing that a sequel to Anchorman is coming. You may remember a few year ago Paramount were keen to make a musical sequel but it then hit the ropes. No? Well, no matter…
Aintitcool are reporting that Judd Apatow is producing the sequel at Paramount and it will be co-written by Will Ferrell and direct Adam McKay. Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are confirmed as returning – yay! – and it is assumed that all the main cast will also be back.
The story will see the news team produce a Broadway Musical, so it should be like nothing we’ve ever seen before. We’re not totally sure this is a good thing or a bad thing to be honest.
Now, Ron Burgundy himself (Ferrell) broke the news on last night’s Conan (video below) and a lot of people were unsure if it was genuine, so shortly after co-writer Adam McKay tweeted:
A few people questioning if Anchorman 2 is 100% for sure happening. Let me assure and assuage: it is. We’re writing now and we shoot in Feb.
Meanwhile, stay sexy Nerds…
