RUMOR: John Boyega & Gwendoline Christie’s Star Wars: Episode VII roles revealed?

July 23rd, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

On the heels of some plot details a couple days ago, Badass Digest is back with some more possible details about J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, specifically about actors John Boyega and Gwendolin Christie’s characters in the film.

SPOILERS

The site reports that Boyega plays a Stormtrooper who not only deserts his post but teams up with Daisy Ridley’s character, supposedly after finding a severed hand holding the Lightsaber of the missing Luke Skywalker.

Christie will play an Imperial Officer, Boyega’s commanding officer, who will be chasing the deserter down over the course of the movie. Not only that; they also hear that this character may have been gender swapped from the original script, and speculate that it might have been the role Benedict Cumberbatch was up for.

In addition, the site reveals that the desert planet seen throughout the behind-the-scenes videos for the film and in set photos is not Tatooine, as many have previously thought, but in fact another desert planet.

What do you think of these new rumors?

The cast for Episode VII includes Pip Anderson, Crystal Clarke, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the Saga Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18th, 2015.
