We’ve all heard the news that Deadline reported that the Man of Steel sequel has been fast tracked. Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer will be back to direct and write the film. There’s no word on if Christopher Nolan will be involved as a producer or not, as he is pretty busy.
With the references to LexCorp throughout Metropolis it would only make sense for Lex Luthor to be Kal-el’s adversary as the devastated city tries to rebuild. Luthor has always been the only human nemesis that truly poses a threat to the Kryptonian. ( I’m not counting Batman) This of course would require an actor with enough presence to go toe to toe with Henry Cavill’s Superman. That brings us to our rumor.
Cosmic Book News claims a DC Entertainment executive stated that Zack Snyder wanted Mark Strong to be Lex Luthor. Mark Strong is known to have portrayed characters and antagonists of great intensity. Basically a perfect casting choice for Lex Luthor. His take on Luthor would definitely provide a great amount of respect for seriousness for the role, much like Michael Shannon did for General Zod.
What would this rumor mean for Mark Strong’s Sinestro ? With the emphasis on realism that Warner Bros. likes to put in most of their super hero movies of late, would you buy an actor having two major villain roles?
An unidentified source close to the studio confirms that pre-production will get started between October and December of this year, with principal photography to start in early 2014. This would most likely mean a 2015 release, and seems to contradict an earlier report which claimed that Warner Bros. wants to release this sequel in 2014.
As always these are just rumors, but let us know what you think?
